
Sally Tran
Sally Tran is a Vietnamese-New Zealand writer and director based in New York City. Working across narrative, documentary, and commercial formats, Sally has directed over 50 campaigns globally. Her commercial portfolio includes work for ASUS, Schick, Canon IVY, Instagram, Pinterest, Dunkin’ Donuts, and long-form content for Sesame Street and Cartoon Network. She has also served as a creative director for Canon. Her work often lives in the mixed media space constantly reinventing and playing with the language of social media.
Her narrative work has been supported by NYFA, MOME, the Panavision New Filmmakers Grant, and the Vimeo BIPOC Fund. Her short film DON’T had its international premiere at TIFF in 2024, and Grandma Four Color Cards screened at SXSW in 2025. Most recently, she wrapped production on Love Cycle, a Saigon-set short film funded by NALIP and Netflix, marking a return to deeply personal and collective storytelling.
